Often, we wonder how old our pet would be if it were comparable to that of a human being and yes, thanks to age calculator you can finally know its human age ! This is why we use a method based on criteria such as the weight and size of your animal in order to give you an approximate result of its human age.

🐕 How long do dogs live on average ?
As for our dear doggies, their lifespan depends on many factors such as the breed, the size and especially their general health. If we take the example of the Chihuahuas known for their small size or the Miniature Poodles, these dogs can live between 15 and 20 years, even more! If, on the other hand, we take dogs of larger breeds such as Great Danes or St. Bernards, we find that their lifespan is much shorter than that of their smaller neighbors. Indeed, the average life span of a large dog is only about 7 to 10 years. If we want to take an average, the life span of a dog is about 10 to 13 years. Note however that their life span can be greatly extended if they are provided with a good diet and a healthy lifestyle.
🐶️ How do I calculate my dog's age in human years ?
If you want to calculate the age of your dog in human age, there is a formula that we use on our dog age calculator relatively simple which takes into account the first 2 years of the life of the dog. Here are the secrets of this formula: If the first year of your dog's life (of average size) is equivalent to 18 human years, the next year will be equivalent to about 9 human years and the one after that will be equivalent to 3 human years and so on... A small example ? If your dog is 3 years old we will apply the formula 18 + 9 + 6. Your dog will be about 33 years old in human years already. Not bad, right? A small dog will have 20 + 8 + 4 which will be equivalent to 32 years. In general you can add between 4 to 5 years to your dog. On age calculator, we have made a table based on this formula to make distinctions between small and large dogs, however keep in mind that these are approximate calculations because aging differs from one dog to another.
👴 What are the signs of aging in dogs ?
Unfortunately, as dogs age they will experience diminished physical and cognitive abilities. You will find signs such as excessive need to relieve themselves, decreased hearing, gray and falling hair, decreased energy and mobility, change in behavior or sleep patterns. If you notice any unusual symptoms, don't hesitate to consult your veterinarian in order to identify or provide preventive care for age-related health problems, whether it's to improve your dog's quality of life or to hopefully boost his life expectancy, it can only be beneficial for your dog.
